To close the 2019-2020 season, Opera McGill joins forces with the McGill Baroque Orchestra and Cappella Antica to perform Handel’s quintessential pastoral opera, Acis and Galatea. Patrick Hansen’s new production whisks the story of the nymph, the shepherd, and the cyclops away to 1950s Italy, where celebrity, cinematic fantasy, and real life intertwine. Brimful of gorgeous melodies and scattered throughout with little winks and nudges, Acis and Galatea remains as irresistible in our day as in Handel’s.
The performances on March 28 and 29 will be webcast.
