Schulich Bass-Baritone Master's student Gordon Bintner awarded 1st Prize and Audience Prize at the COC Ensemble Competition.

Congratulations to Regina native and current student Gordon Bintner, 1st Prize winner and Audience Prize winner at the second annual Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Competition. Bintner, a bass-baritone is one of three young members of the COC's apprenticeship program.  The first prize award was $5000, and the People's Choice Award was $1500.  

 

A 2nd year Masters of Opera and Voice student who also received his bachelors degree here at Schulich, Gordon is a voice student of Professor Sanford Sylvan and has appeared in over eight Opera McGill productions (four in collaboration with Schulich's Early Music Program) including the title role in last year's Don Giovanni. This January, Gordon will be singing Volpone in Volpone with Opera McGill and this spring will be making his debut with l'Opera de Montreal as Lescaut in Manon Lescaut
