Voice alumni take 1st and 2nd prizes at Canadian Opera Company Christina and Louis Quilico Awards

Schulich voice graduates Rihab Chaieb (former student of Winston Purdy and Sanford Sylvan) and Claire deSevigné (former student of Winston Purdy) were 1st and 2nd place winners, respectfully, of the Canadian Opera Company Christina and Louis Quilico Awards. Both received their BMus degrees in Voice at Schulich and performed in many Opera McGill productions as undergraduates including  in productions of Thésée, The Rape of Lucretia, Tragédie de Carmen, Dido and Aeneas, La Rondine, Dialogues des Carmelites, and The Rake's Progress.

In the competition Claire deSevigné sang arias from Cendrillon and Giulio Cesare, while Rihab Chaieb sang arias from Rosenkavalier and Vanessa. Both are current members of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Program, a program which another notable Schulich grad Gordon Bintner will be joining this fall.
