About McGill Jazz Orchestra I

Director (I): Marianne Trudel

The McGill Jazz Orchestra I is of professional quality and has performed extensively both here in Canada and abroad. The ensemble has released eight highly regarded CDs over the years and has performed with world-class visiting guest artists, including Joe Lovano, Slide Hampton, Danilo Perez and many others. The orchestra is dedicated to the performance of both traditional jazz masterworks and contemporary repertoire and regularly performs the music of Canadian composers and of McGill students and faculty.

Marianne Trudel, is a multi-talented pianist, composer, improvisor, and arranger. A generous and engaging artist, a veritable powerhouse in Quebec and Canada’s music scene, Marianne Trudel has presented multiple artistic projects that not only bring her considerable skills to the fore but also her keen sense of creativity.

At once energetic and passionate, she has presented her music in 15 countries around the world, always received with great enthusiasm by the audience. She has received multiple awards (ADISQ, OPUS) and was JUNO Award nominee multiple times.

About McGill Jazz Orchestra II

Director (II): Philippe Côté

The McGill Jazz Orchestra II, under the able direction of Philippe Côté, is an award-winning performing ensemble in its own right and performs on a regular basis, both at McGill and around the Montreal area.
